A four-year-old boy, who had gone missing from the premises of Lady Hardinge hospital on Tuesday morning, was rescued by police near Jhandewalan the same evening.

A woman, Sunita, was arrested on the charge of abducting the child for trafficking purposes. The child had reportedly come to the hospital along with his mother when he was kidnapped by Sunita, police said. “Sunita allegedly lured the child by giving him sweets and took him with her. Her interrogation revealed that she was planning to sell the child to one Anita for Rs 1 lakh.

During investigation, it was found that Anita has a case of robbery and kidnapping registered against her,” police said. A call was received regarding the missing child around 10 am. Police first searched the hospital but did not find him. Police then scanned the CCTV footage at the hospital that showed the woman taking the child along with her. A Special Cell team rescued the child.
