Even as the traffic on SP Mukherjee Marg has eased up,the new arrangement has created a bottleneck at the U-turn at Fatehpuri traffic signal, with all vehicles now bunching at this junction.

While the Northern Railway has proposed that the U-turn be remodeled and widened so buses can swiftly take a U-turn,officials said unauthorised vendors on the footpaths of SP Mukherjee Marg are hampering smooth movement of traffic.

The Railway has also written to the Delhi government and the MCD to relocate the night shelter and shops of travel agents near the Fatehpuri U-turn,so that the area can be redeveloped. The traffic signal is under the Public Works Department and in a meeting held with the UTTIPEC on Tuesday, the civic body was asked to remodel the traffic signal.
