A patient suffering from multi-drug resistant tuberculosis died at the District Hospital in Noida on Wednesday after he was allegedly denied treatment for close to 4 hours. The patient has been identified as Hamid Khan. A case of causing death due to negligence has been filed at Sector-20 police station. According to Hamid’s son Islammuddin Khan, his father was first taken to the emergency ward of the hospital around 7.30 am on Wednesday.

“The doctors at the emergency ward told him to go to OPD,where he had to wait for 2 hours as no one was willing to register his case. His condition was steadily deteriorating. When the OPD doctors finally saw him, they said my father’s condition was serious, and he should be taken to emergency ward. By the time we went to the emergency ward, four hours had passed and he was dead”

Hospital authorities said an enquiry had been ordered into the case. “We will investigate the matter. But it is true that his condition was serious when he was brought here first,” said Meena Mishra,CMS of the hospital.
