Water supply likely to be disrupted: Delhi Jal Board

Water supply, Delhi Jal Board, water treatment plants, Sonia Vihar water treatment plants, Bhagirathi water treatment plants, delhi news Yamuna Vihar, Loni Road, Mandawali, Greater Kailash, Vasant Kunj, Sarita Vihar and Giri Nagar will be affected.

Water supply in east and south Delhi will be disrupted as high levels of ammonia in raw water have led to the closure of Bhagirathi and Sonia Vihar water treatment plants.

The Delhi Jal Board (DJB), in a statement, said, “Due to closure of Upper Ganga Canal, raw water is being lifted from Yamuna Intake… High content of ammonia has been found in the water lifted from Yamuna. Hence, the Bhagirathi and Sonia Vihar WTPs have been closed.”

Yamuna Vihar, Loni Road, Mandawali, Greater Kailash, Vasant Kunj, Sarita Vihar and Giri Nagar will be affected. However, AAP MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj said some areas could get respite by Monday morning.
