A 24-year-old Uzbek woman has alleged she was raped by a man who was helped by his wife. She also alleged the couple was trying to force her into prostitution in Delhi. Police said they have arrested the wife and registered a case at Vasant Kunj (north) police station.

In her complaint to police Saturday night, the Uzbek woman said Altaf alias Raju, raped her several times over the past week on the pretext of marrying her and getting her a job. After he allegedly raped her again Saturday, she approached police. In her complaint, she said she met Raju online and he convinced her to come to India. When she arrived in the country, she found Raju was married. “She said Raju convinced her to stay and raped her several times,” said a police officer. She also said Raju’s wife was complicit in the rape. A search is on to nab Raju, said police.
