A 52-year-old woman, who was reportedly in an inebriated state, rammed into a vehicle and injured three people, including a child, on the Gurgaon-Faridabad road Sunday night.

Police said informed of the incident, the woman’s friend reached the spot and both allegedly abused the officers present on the scene, including a women officer. Police said the two have been arrested. They were produced in a city court on Monday and were sent to 14 days’ judicial custody.

According to police, the women — identified as Alka Narula (52) and Deepa Sharma (45) —  were returning from a party in a farmhouse in Mandi village, Gurgaon.

“Narula was driving in an inebriated state when the accident occurred. Her car, a Maruti Swift rammed into a Pajero which then turned turtle. Police then reached the spot. However, Narula abused the officers. Narula’s friend Deepa also reached the spot and she too abused the officers and assaulted a woman constable,” Gulam Mohammad, investigating officer from DLF City Phase-I police station, said.

Police said Deepa had reached the Gurgaon toll plaza when she received a call from a friend informing her of the incident.

A case has been registered under sections 279, 332, 186 and 353 of the IPC at DLF City Phase-I police station, the investigating officer said.
