Two held in fake driving licence scam

Police on Saturday arrested two persons allegedly involved in providing fake driving licences. Police said the duo would provide license,of different transport authorities,within minutes at a low cost.

Police on Saturday arrested two persons allegedly involved in providing fake driving licences. Police said the duo would provide license,of different transport authorities,within minutes at a low cost.

According to Additional Commissioner of Police (West) V Renganathan,“Rakesh (42) and Uman Sharma (39),both residents of Paschim Puri were arrested on a tip off on October 8”.

A decoy customer sent by the police contacted the gang asking for a driving license. The duo immediately took photographs of the customer and returned with a forged driving license of the Karnal authority. It was while receiving the payment for the license that both were caught red handed.

During interrogation the accused disclosed that they had been running the racket for the last seven years and that their business was all over the country. Police said the duo had till now supplied more than 1,000 forged driving licenses to mostly drivers of heavy vehicles.

More than 50 forged blank driving license cards and stamps of different transport authorities of India,two forged HMV driving licenses of the Karnal Transport Authority and other stationery were recovered from their possession.
