A human trafficking racket has been busted by the Airport police after a suspicion was raised by CISF officials on Tuesday over the presence of seven Nepalese girls in the transit area — where a traveller can enter only after immigration clearance — of IGI Airport without proper “clearances”. The women were on their way to board a flight to Dubai.

Police said the case, which was initially perceived to be one of traveling with fake travel documents, was later found to be one of human trafficking.

Airport police have arrested two Air India officials who issued boarding passes and facilitated the girls to slip through “immigration clearance to board the flight directly.”

The two men issued boarding passes for the flight to Dubai which was to depart on June 21,” M I Haider, Deputy Commissioner of Police of IGI Airport, said.

During investigation, it was revealed that an agent, Raju, along with his associates Gupta and Kumar duped the women on the pretext of offering them well-paid jobs in Dubai. “These girls are actually victims in this case,” the DCP added.
