Two men died in a hit-and-run in north Delhi’s Civil Lines on Saturday night. The men were on their way to a wedding, when an unidentified vehicle reportedly hit their motorcycle. Police are yet to identify the errant driver or make any arrest in the case.

Police said the victims have been identified as Vijender (24) and Ajay (30). While Vijender, who lived in Jhandewalan, was a florist, Ajay, who was in charge of looking after the horses, lived in Gurgaon. “Ajay was riding the bike and Jitender was sitting pillion. They had crossed Bara Hindu Rao Hospital when the vehicle hit them,” a senior police officer said.

Police received a PCR call around 12.30 am. A police team reached the spot and took them to a local hospital, where they were declared brought dead. Police also recovered a crushed helmet from the accident spot. “The motorists were dragged for a few metres. But only after we nab the culprit will the facts come to light,” an officer said. However, with no eyewitness and lack of CCTV footage at the spot, police said that it would be difficult to track the culprit.
