Traffic cop assaulted for stopping man for violation

A traffic policeman was assaulted by a man in a Toyota Fortuner,after the constable stopped him for jumping a light.

A traffic policeman was assaulted by a man in a Toyota Fortuner,after the constable stopped him for jumping a light at the crossing near City Centre Metro station in Noida on Thursday.

“Head constable Bhagat Singh Yadav stopped the driver Vikas Yadav from jumping a light at the busy intersection. Vikas stopped the car in the middle of the road,got out and assaulted the constable,” a police officer said.

Bhagat Singh Yadav said,“When I stopped Vikas and told him that he had violated a traffic rule,he stopped the car in the middle of the road. I asked him to park the car on the side,but he refused. After a heated argument,he attacked me. I alerted police. The car was seized and Vikas arrested,” he said. An FIR was registered at Sector-24 police station.

Vikas,a resident of Bisrakh in Greater Noida,has been booked for assaulting a police officer on duty and obstructing government work.
