With Assembly polls just months away Delhi Cabinet ministers want to ensure that their “development works” are noticed. The ministers have now started to lay foundation stones or inaugurating long-awaited projects.

Along with Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, the six ministers are making projects count before the elections.

Power and Food Supplies Minister Haroon Yusuf has lined up projects like construction roads in the Walled City. Recognising residents and shopkeepers demand for pothole-free roads,Yusuf has got clearance for construction of roads like Qutub Road,Sadar Thana Road to Baratuti Road,Idgah Road, among others. He will also inaugurate the project of water line for Nabi Karim area.

“Senior BJP leaders inaugurated road construction projects in this area, and yet everyone knows there is no road there. (Municipal) corporation did nothing to improve the basic infrastructure, and this is why we took away the roads (from them). We will ensure that people will get this basic necessity on time,” said Yusuf, who will inaugurate these projects in the coming months.

Health Minister A K Walia will inaugurate a dispensary in Shakarpur, along with sewer lines in unauthorised colonies like Pandav Nagar and Dinesh Nagar. The minister might also inaugurate a wing of Delhi Cancer Institute. “The plan for dispensary in Shakarpur is ready, but it got delayed as the building plan had some anomalies. We will lay sewer lines in unauthorised colonies as the residents face lot of problems due to absence of sewage lines,” Walia said.

Other projects that are lined up are: Deepali Chowk flyover, making Mangolpuri signal-free,four-km flyover from Jail Road to Prashant Vihar to Badli.
