According to police, three cartoons of Zerodol-SP tablets, two cartons of Pantop-D capsules and five cartons of Pantop-DSR stocked with spurious drugs were seized from the godown.

“Manoj revealed that his associates were manufacturing the spurious drugs at a factory in Mohali. We conducted raids and seized 10 cartons of spurious drugs. Manoj’s associates Amit Dua (37) and Gulab Singh (36) were arrested from the factory premises on Wednesday,” Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav said.

According to police, Amit’s father owned a pharmaceuticals factory in Bahadurgarh, Haryana. Manoj used to work in this factory. Amit, who studied up to class VIII, took to odd jobs after dropping out of school and soon began manufacturing spurious drugs in Lucknow. In 2005, he along with Manoj and one Satish were arrested for manufacturing and supplying spurious drugs but they were released soon after.

Police said Manoj and Amit then came in contact with one Manoj Topi and began jointly manufacturing the drugs. Topi’s brother-in-law Gulab Singh took over after Topi was arrested.
