A temple priest, who allegedly molested an eight-year-old girl, was arrested on Saturday. The case was reported from South Delhi’s Rajokri area.
The incident occurred when the girl, along with her four-year-old brother, had gone to the temple on Saturday around 7.30 pm. “The priest, Lakhan Giri (60), had allegedly lured the girl to a bathroom in the temple premises with the offer of prasad,” DCP (South) Premnath said.
According to police, the priest asked the girl to remove her underwear. Meanwhile, devotees present at the temple complex noticed that Giri was missing for some time and started calling out to him loudly.
Police said the priest emerged from the bathroom with the minor girl. The people at the temple immediately grew suspicious of the priest’s intentions and raised a hue and cry. They then called police, demanding the priest’s arrest.
The girl was sent for a medical examination and the priest was arrested on charges of molestation.
