A 25-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly forcing into prostitution a 14-year-old girl who had earlier rushed a two-year-old with serious injuries to AIIMS Trauma Centre.
Arti was arrested on Thursday and is the fourth to be held by police in the case.
On Wednesday, the girls father was arrested for allegedly abusing her and a couple were arrested for sexually exploiting her.
The girl had named Arti,a resident of Munirka,in her statement to the Child Welfare Committee.
Police said the girl had stayed at Artis house, where clients would drop by. When they saw the girl and made demands,Arti decided to force her into prostitution, police said.
Meanwhile, the initial interrogation of the couple Sandeep Pandey (32) and his wife Pooja revealed that Rajkumar,a driver, was equally involved in the prostitution racket along with the couple and Arti.
In the months before Rajkumar married the girl,he and Artis partner sexually exploited her. He allowed his fellow drivers and their friends to sleep with her to make money. They charged between Rs 500 and Rs 800 from clients, said an investigating officer.
Police said Rajkumar provided for the girl and later got emotionally attached to her.
The girl still considers Rajkumar to be her saviour. This is one of the reasons why she has not named Rajkumar, while those arrested have named him as a member of the prostitution gang, the officer said.
The four accused were produced before a city magistrate on Thursday and sent to police custody for three days.
Police are looking for Artis partner who is on the run.
Her partner, who worked as a driver with Rajkumar, drove the girl to some of the clients, said an officer.
Police said Rajkumar severed ties with Arti after she stole the girls money. He then married her at a temple in Kalkaji and began living with her. But at times he used her to make money, said the officer.
Arti has a one-year-old child.
We have got three days custody of the four accused. There will be joint interrogation and we will try to connect the missing links. We are on the lookout for Rajkumar, said Ajay Chaudhary,Additional Commissioner of Police(Southeast).
