The Delhi University Teachers’ Association (DUTA) has decided to hold a protest meeting Monday against the university’s decision to summon its president Nandita Narain to probe allegations against her conduct.
The DU administration has asked Narain to appear before its fact-finding committee Monday. The DUTA executive’s protest-meeting is proposed outside the venue where Narain has been directed to appear. Narain was asked to depose before the committee after Deshbandhu College, Kalindi College and the Campus of Learning complained against her in August and October 2014.

The DUTA questioned the timing of the move, saying it “smacks of vindictiveness” by outgoing vice-chancellor Dinesh Singh. In a statement, DUTA said the failure to revoke the move will result in Singh being “held singularly responsible for provoking widespread unrest and instability in the university”.
“The executive has given a call for a joint teacher-student protest meeting outside the Vice-Regal Lodge, Monday (between 10.30 am and 1.30 pm), following which the situation will be re-assessed..,” read the statement.
Singh, however, said the DUTA was trying to “distort” facts. “It’s not true that the matter is being brought up in an untimely manner. The fact-finding committee was formed in February and has been working since. She may have been called last after the others,” he said.
