Stepfather held for ‘sexually assaulting’ girls

The woman, also a labourer in Gurgaon, has two more children — a boy and a girl — with her second husband.

A labourer, who works in Gurgaon and hails from Uttar Pradesh, has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting his stepdaughters, both minors. The children’s mother had married the accused around five years ago, after her husband died. The woman, also a labourer in Gurgaon, has two more children — a boy and a girl — with her second husband.

According to police, the incident came to light Thursday, when the younger of the two girls, who is 12 years old, told her mother that her stepfather had sexually assaulted her twice in a week. The older child, 14, said she too had been through a similar ordeal “two or three times” in the recent past, with the accused threatening to kill her if she told anyone about the crime. The woman took them to Sohna City police station, where a case was registered on Thursday evening. The accused was arrested soon after, police said.
