A man was arrested on Sunday for murdering his relative allegedly because she spurned his advances.
According to police,the woman,Dipti,was married and had met the man,Surender Kumar Sharma,at a family picnic.
Diptis husband,Rajesh Kumar,found his the body of his wife when he returned home from work on September 4. Several articles were also stolen from the house,police said.
Police established Sharmas involvement in the murder after they found that he had visited the house. He was arrested on Sunday after a tip-off and police said he confessed to the murder.
Sharma told us that he had visited Diptis house on the day of the murder. She spurned his advances. She told him that she would tell her husband about the incident, said Additional Commissioner of Police (South West),A K Ojha.
Sharma pushed her violently and then strangled her. He stole some items and ransacked the house to make it look like a robbery, Ojha said.
