Six held for stone-pelting

Incidents of stone-pelting were reported from Khoda Colony on Monday night and Tuesday evening. According to police,around 150-200 residents pelted stones at policemen and six of them were arrested on Tuesday. A case has been registered against them at the New Ashok Nagar police station.

“Six more people have been arrested in a fresh case under fresh charges. We had to lob eight tear gas shells to control the mob. However,we are only dispersing unlawful assembly and employing reasonable use of force. Despite having suffered so many attacks,we are exercising maximum restraint,” Prabhakar said. Earlier,police had charged the mob with rioting,arson and attempt to murder. Charges of stone-pelting were added on Monday evening.

Nineteen persons have been arrested since the violence on Sunday.
