Six arrested with diamond jewellery stolen from West Delhi colony: Police

Six people were arrested for allegedly stealing diamond jewellery worth Rs 50 lakh from two persons at Rani Bagh in West Delhi,police said on Friday.

Six people were arrested for allegedly stealing diamond jewellery worth Rs 50 lakh from two persons at Rani Bagh in West Delhi,police said on Friday.

The accused,police said,were involved in two other incidents of robbery.

The six accused were identified as Raj Kumar (40),Manjeet (21),Manish (27),Rahul (22),Sanjay (23),and Parveen (36). They were arrested from various parts of the city on Wednesday and Thursday,said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) B S Jaiswal. One accused,identified as Pawan,is still absconding.

Four country-made pistols with four live cartridges,a stolen i10 car and 152 diamond jewellery articles worth Rs 50 lakh were recovered from them.

After a tip-off,police said they arrested Parveen and recovered 11 articles of diamond jewellery from him. He told police that his associates are likely to be at Deepali Chowk in Outer Delhi in an i10 car bearing a fake registration number.

Police laid a trap and arrested Manjeet,a resident of Haryana,who was driving the car. A country-made pistol was recovered from him. Police found that he was involved in cases of attempt to murder,Arms Act and sodomy.

Four others present in the car were also nabbed. Later they were identified as Raj Kumar,a resident of Bawana,Manish,a resident of Wazirabad,Rahul and Sanjay,both from Haryana.

“Three country-made pistols and a total of 141 articles of diamond jewellery were recovered from them,” said Jaiswal.

During questioning,police found that Parveen,who worked as a supervisor at a service station in Jahangirpuri,ran up a debt after marrying off his three sisters.
