Hours before she was shot dead Sunday, Nikki Chauhan told her father she was going meet three persons responsible for problems in her life and would sort out the situation.
“She told me she will meet three persons and thereafter she will be able to lead a normal life,” said her father Susheel Chauhan on Monday.
He said Nikki, who once was a stringer for a local weekly newspaper, was supposed to meet a former employer, her husband, and sub-inspector (SI) Vijendra Kumar.
He added that Nikki had been tense for the past couple of days.
However, two hours after she left home, a call came that she had been injured and the family rushed to Rockland Hospital in Dwarka.
“When we reached there, we found out she was dead,” said Nikki’s father. He alleged that all three persons his daughter was supposed to meet were responsible for her condition.
On SI Kumar, he claimed the relationship between between him and Nikki did not work and she got married to someone else.
“Even after that, the sub-inspector harassed my daughter.” He alleged the SI convinced his son-in-law that Nikki was not a good person.
Nikki’s father also dismissed all talk that she had extorted money from SI Kumar.
He claimed it was SI Kumar who extorted money from them by threatening to show Nikki’s husband some personal pictures and messages.
“Vijendra met us at our home in 2014 and deleted certain pictures from a phone and we handed over Rs 50,000 to him. He told us that he would not harass my child any more. But he started harassing my daughter again,” he said.
On his daughter’s marriage, he said, “They were not staying together. There was a divorce case going on in court, but they were not separated yet.”
