The mother of Israeli diplomat Tal Yehoshua-Koren,who was seriously injured in a targeted attack on Monday, will soon be flying to New Delhi.
She has been very, very brave throughout this incident. She is a hero for handling the situation so sensibly and has been raised to be a strong person. But right now, she is very weak physically and we plan to fly down to New Delhi very soon to be with her, Tzafira Koren said over phone from her home in Kfar Haim,Israel.
Koren said she has not yet spoken to her daughter, but did speak to her grandchildren aged 7 and 12. Tal was on way to fetch her children from the American Embassy School on Monday when her car was attacked.
We are in constant touch with the team at the hospital, but have not been able to speak to Tal as she is very weak. We hope they will put us through on telephone tonight. We are keen to get her to Israel,if the doctors at New Delhi allow us, said Sharon Koren, the diplomats sister.
The family was informed of the terror attack by Tals husband,a defence attache at the Israel Embassy.
Tals brother Iddo Koren and sister Sharon are expect to arrive in New Delhi on Thursday.
Tal sustained shrapnel injuries in her spine in the explosion, and has undergone two major surgeries at the Primus Hospital in Chanakyapuri.
This is the first time that a terror attack has touched our family. It is shocking. We had lost one of our neighbours to a terror attack earlier, Sharon said.
She said she was not clear about the sequence of events except for the fact that Tal got out of the targeted vehicle in time.
Tal and her husband visited Israel in December last year for Iddos wedding.
In India for nearly four years now,Tal has a number of friends in Delhi who are taking care of her two children. A person with varied interests, she keenly follows some Jewish blogs on cuisine, furniture, photography and news blogs on Israel.
She is said to be actively involved in Chabad House activities in Delhi, and is a familiar face among members of the Jewish community.
