Justice (retd) Mukul Mudgal who checked the remedial measures implemented at the Sirhaul toll plaza of Gurgaon Expressway on Sunday is learnt to have suggested that the stretch of road opposite Ambience Mall needs to be widened.
Justice (retd) Mudgal submitted his report to the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Monday. The concessionaire of the expressway and National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) were also given a copy of the report.
The land near the stretch of road, from Udyog Vihar Marg, belongs to the Haryana government.
Last week,a division bench of acting Chief Justice Jasbir Singh and Justice Rakesh Kumar Jain had requested Justice Mudgal to visit the Gurgaon-Delhi Expressway and submit his report on the revolutionary steps to be taken by the concessionaire,Delhi Gurgaon Super Connectivity Limited (DGSCL).
On September 4,the High Court had stopped collection of toll at the plaza after noting long traffic snarls at the point. Last week,it lifted the stay on toll collection from commercial vehicles.
Private vehicles, however, are still allowed to cross the toll plaza without paying tax.
The report also mentions that the hand held devices, suggested by DGSCL for collection of toll, need to be integrated with the central server (through GPRS).
The additional temporary toll booths need to be converted into permanent one,the report is learnt to have said.
The PIL will come up for hearing on Tuesday, when the High Court is expected to decide if toll collection will stay suspended.
