Beers and cocktails you havent heard of,make it to the exhaustive menu at Vapour
A New restobar at the Megacity Mall,Gurgaon has a distinct focus: beer. Vapour boasts of its own mini brewery, and bang at the entrance, six, huge, stainless steel containers have been fixed behind the bar counter. With a set of six fermentation tanks,Vapour churns out 1000 litres of customised beer brews daily. There are four types of lagers here: premium, light, dark beer and wheat beer for which the ingredients are imported regularly from Bamberg,Germany. These beers taste completely different from those in the market. They are fresher with more aroma, says Subroto Cariapa, the brew master of Vapour. The golden-yellow bar stools are ideal to perch on,while you absorb the exhaustive menu of beers available.
Though there is a fine-dining restaurant with alfresco seating that serves world cuisine like Gamberoni a-l-a Sicilia (Rs 775) of grilled jumbo prawns served with mashed potato or the ambitiously named exotic singing chicken (Rs 335),clearly,its the beer brewery thats Vapours selling point. While a premium lager has a bitter caramelised flavour (Rs 185 for 500 ml),the light lager lends a smoky texture due to the residues from the filtration, and is a better option for those who arent experimental with their drinks.
The wheat beer is the lightest with a sweet and sour taste. However,if youre not a beer enthusiast, try their exhaustive list of beer cocktails priced at Rs 385 each. Theres Ersh,a refreshing aperitif made with lime, kiwi pulp and a shot of premium lager. Hangmans blood is dark lager and cream, topped with a generous helping of black grape juice. There are also the Vapours Kula and Boiler Maker that the brew master recommends with Chicken Suya (Rs 315),peanut flavoured boneless chicken served with a chilly dip. April onwards, theres reason for non drinkers to cheer; Vapour plans to introduce fruit flavoured beers in green apple and spicy beer in ginger, cinnamon, coriander and chilli flavours. Beer me!
