The Delhi Police is now in the process of procuring CCTV footage of all the past incidents of motorcyclists performing stunts across districts, with the police wanting to ascertain if Puneet and Karan were seen in any of the footage earlier.

Police are also going through their call detail records to ascertain who they were in touch with so that they can round up the remaining motorcyclists.

A senior police officer said: “There were about 150 motorcyclists that day and the CCTV footage so far has revealed that they came in groups. We will go through the call detail records of Karan and Puneet to ascertain who they were in touch with. We are on the lookout for other bikers and will try and get a clearer footage of those motorcyclists. The footage that we have so far has not helped us ascertain the registration numbers on the bikes.”

Meanwhile,Puneet’s father

H P Sharma said,“My son is innocent. He gave a statement to the SDM and told him that he had not consumed alcohol at all at the time of the incident. He and Karan had gone to snack on bread pakoras and tea,but they decided to go to the Gurdwara Bangla Sahib before that, something they usually do. But then, before they could set out to eat,at the Le Meridien roundabout, the bikers came out of nowhere. They were surrounded and they didn’t know what was happening. Puneet said in his statement that they were leaving the spot when the police opened fire. They did not perform any stunts.”

Police, however, have claimed that Puneet has been booked for the incident and that he will be arrested. Meanwhile, after Puneet was discharged on Monday, police took him in for questioning and released him in the afternoon. However,he was again taken to the hospital after he complained that he felt unwell.

“He was released after that and is with his parents,” a senior police officer said.

Police plan to question stunt bikers arrested over the past month to find out whether they knew Karan and Puneet.
