Property tax along Metro corridors

The Delhi government is looking at Urban Development ministry’s proposal to impose a dedicated tax on property transactions along the Delhi Metro corridors.

The Delhi government is looking at Urban Development ministry’s proposal to impose a dedicated tax on property transactions along the Delhi Metro corridors. Senior officials said the government was considering how to go about imposing such a tax. “Since the Metro is a very costly system,it is difficult to meet expenses. We are looking at innovative ways for revenue generation,and one of them is levying additional taxes on properties that come up along the Metro corridors,” said an official.
