The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of south district police, probing the death of Sunanda Pushkar, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor’s wife, has questioned Tharoor’s domestic help Narayan Singh and driver Bajrangi.

This comes in the light of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences medical board’s opinion on the FBI report in connection with Pushkar’s death. Sources said the investigators have questioned Singh and Bajrangi twice in the past three days.

“The SIT has also questioned around a dozen chemists in and around Tharoor’s bungalow in Lodhi Estate,” a police source said.

“They were all questioned in light of the information emerging out of the AIIMS medical board’s opinion on the FBI report in connection with the case,” said the source, adding that the questions revolved around the source of drugs suspected to have caused 51-year-old Puskhar’s death.

Why these interrogation and examination are being done in installments as if there is no hurry in closing the case. It is obvious, more the time more the chances of evidences being tampered. Police is giving the accused red carpet welcome by giving the information what it is going to do so that accused can prepare very well to mislead the police.

Take the case of Nirbhaya - incident occurred in December 2012, accused convicted by September 2013. It is not that Delhi police is not capable of taking prompt action. But for Sunanda, it has taken 2 years to establish cause of death. Only drivers and peons are being interrogated, as if they had a motive to kill her. This is a case, where Sunanda had publicly threatened to take certain actions against her husband for his infidelity. She turns up conveniently dead the next day, with injury marks. But the premier forensic laboratories of India took 2 years and still could not conclude how she died. They took the help of FBI forensics. So, would anyone like to speculate on the reason for Delhi police to drag its feet in the case of Sunanda, but not for Nirbhaya?
