The Police have approached the Delhi High Court with a plea to transfer the trial of the evidence tampering case against Gopal and Sushil Ansal and two other accused in the Uphaar tragedy to a different court with serious allegations against the “perverse conduct” of the judge.

The bench of Justice Siddharth Mridul Wednesday has asked the four accused to file their responses by January 5.

“The atmosphere in the court is unfortunately very hostile qua the complainants and the state and the Hon’ble Sessions Court is conducting the case in a manner alien to law and upon his own whims and fancies which is resulting in the loss of confidence in the trial process. The victims who have fought a long battle in court are feeling intimidated and undermined,” alleged the police plea.
