In view of the repair work on the Airport Metro, the Traffic police have redrawn a circulation map and added a few diversions on the road leading from Dhaula Kuan to Karol Bagh.

One carriageway of the upper Ridge Road will be shut for regular traffic, till the repairs in the area is completed. “We decided to re-route traffic movement in the area between Dhaula Kuan and Panchsheel Marg. The commuters will now have to go from Dhaula Kuan to Brar Square to reach Karol Bagh. It will be almost 4 km more than normal route,” a senior Traffic officer said.

The other carriageway of the upper Ridge Road will remain open for traffic.

The vehicles coming from Karol Bagh will ply as usual. “The commuters travelling to Dhaula Kuan will be given priority as the traffic volume on this route is more than the one coming from Dhaula Kuan. Also,if we had blocked the carriageway going towards Dhaula Kuan, the commuters would have taken Sardar Patel Marg, leading to congestion,” an officer said.

Traffic officers said a diversion was requested during the period of repairing of bearings between Shivaji Stadium Station and Dhaula Kuan stations of the Airport Metro.

Sources said the repair work on the stretch is expected to be over in a fortnight.

Services of the Airport Metro were suspended on July 8,after faults were detected in bearings of the line.

Officials claim the 22.7-km corridor is likely to be operational by the second week of November.
