Two children were killed and one more seriously injured after a wall, raised 10 days ago, collapsed on shanties in Noida’s Sarfabad village on Thursday morning. The dead were identified as Sukurata (5) and Eid Mohammad (2). They were siblings. Their sister was injured in the incident.

A senior police officer said the wall was being constructed on a plot of land next to the slum cluster.

“This area is seeing a lot of construction and many labourers live in these shanties. The cave-in destroyed six hutments,” the police officer said.

The victims’ family has filed a case against the owner of the plot, identified as Bheem. “A case has been registered. We are looking whether there was laxity on part of the owner,” the officer said.
