NHRC wants report on riot in Mayur Vihar

The National Human Rights Commission sent notices to Delhi government and Delhi Police on Monday,asking for an action taken report on the Mayur Vihar mob violence on September 2.

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) sent notices to Delhi government and Delhi Police on Monday,asking for an action taken report (ATR) on the Mayur Vihar mob violence on September 2.

The NHRC has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the incident,to be conducted by the District Commissioner (East). An NHRC spokesperson said it has demanded a fair probe into the incident and asked the government and police to submit their report at the earliest.

Sources said the Delhi Police has not yet submitted its report on the incident to the magistrate. Officials said the medical board of the Delhi government,which conducted the post-mortem on the body of Vinod Singh Negi,who died in the violence,has not yet submitted preliminary findings of the report to the SDM.

Police said they were waiting for the forensic report of a bullet recovered from one of those injured in the incident.
