Police on Thursday claimed that the second domestic help, who was hired two weeks ago,was involved in the murder of 66-year-retired Income Tax official Gurjeet Kaur in her Rohini home.
Kaur was found murdered with her hands and legs tied, and her mouth taped on Wednesday evening. Her house was found ransacked.
She used to live alone in the two-storey house in the complex and two domestic helps used to help her with the daily chores.
Nandini, the second help, has been missing since the incident. A case have been registered.
Police said she had introduced herself as Sonia and Sonu at other households in an adjacent locality. Kaurs neighbour told police that the woman was working in several places using aliases.
Police said Nandini had convinced Kaur to sell her an old sofa a fact confirmed by the elderly womans daughter Inderpal Grover. Kaur had told her daughter that Nandini and her husband would be be coming to her house to take the sofa, police said.
The colony guard told police that he saw Nandini and two men coming out of the house on Wednesday afternoon. Hours later,Kaurs other domestic help found her murdered.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) M A Rizvi said: There is a strong suspicion that the domestic help, hired two weeks ago, committed the crime. She did it to rob the woman of her valuables.
Police have also found video footage of the domestic help from a shop where she worked a few weeks ago.
