The allottees of the Mukherjee Nagar flats under Delhi Development Authoritys (DDA) Housing Scheme 2010 said the land agency has done little to improve the condition of the complex despite tall promises.
The allottees are going to hold a protest outside the L-Gs office on Friday. They had earlier held a protest outside the DDA office near INA Market.
Nothing has been done to improve the condition of our housing complexes. We had filed RTIs to find out when the electric sub-station in our complex would be ready and have received responses on August 27 informing us that the work is almost complete. Also, wiring work in many flats and common areas are still in progress, Deepak Kumar, allottee, said.
Meanwhile,DDA claimed that it had provided allotteess, who had taken up possession of their flats, with temporary water and power connections. According to our earlier commitment,we are giving allottees temporary water and power connections till permanent connections can be set up. Possession of these flats is currently underway, DDA spokesperson Neemo Dhar said.
According to officials, work relating to laying of roads has been delayed because of rains. The work was delayed due to rains but it will be completed soon, Dhar said.
Highrise complexes in Mukherjee Nagars I-block,Ganga block,Yamuna block and D-block of Vasant Kunj and Dwarka are bereft of basic facilities rendering them unfit for living, claimed the alottees.
Newsline had last month carried a series highlighting the condition of these flats and the plight of the allottees.
An allottee who is living in Mukherjee Nagar said he was forced to buy drinking water as there was only a limited supply. The roads are still being laid. I fell and broke my hand here. Since I was staying in a rented accommodation,I had no other option but to shift here, he said.
DDA had earlier suspended four engineers for dereliction of duty with regard to Mukherjee Nagar flats as they were not in a liveable condition. Engineers from the Housing department were also asked to file weekly status reports.
