Aam Aadmi Party’s Malviya Nagar MLA Somnath Bharti Monday alleged that a woman who had been “molested and assaulted” was harassed by the south Delhi Police when she went to file a complaint on Diwali. He also alleged that the South District DCP did not respond to his calls.
According to police, the woman made the allegations when two families in Green Park filed cross FIRs against each other following an argument.

DCP (south) Ishwar Singh said, “There was a fight over lighting crackers near a car. Both families filed cross complaints at Safdarjung Enclave police station and two FIRs were registered. A woman from one family also alleged molestation.”
Singh said he was busy on an official call when Bharti called him. “The SHO of Safdarjung Enclave said Bharti did not call him for assistance. Bharti should have called him,” said Singh.
When contacted, Bharti alleged, “The victims told me they were harassed by police and were asked to sit for long hours in the trauma centre. I called the DCP and he did not respond. I even left a message…”
Bharti also uploaded a video on Twitter purportedly showing the alleged victim complaining that she had been molested.
