Britannica COO jumps to death in Gurgaon, father suffers heart attack

A 47 year-old MNC executive allegedly committed suicide Sunday by jumping off from the 19th floor of Belvedere Park tower in Gurgaon’s DLF phase-2 area. A note was found from Vineet Whig’s, COO of Britannica, pocket stating that he was fed up with his life, Hawa Singh, PRO, Gurgaon Police said.

Police said the deceased, Vinit Vij, lived with his wife and three children in an apartment in Tower C and allegedly jumped off from the top floor of the same tower at 8 am. A security guard found Vij lying in a pool of blood and alerted the family, who called the Police Control Room.

“The police found a note from the spot. It stated no one should be held responsible for his death,” said Krishan Gopal, investigating officer, DLF phase-3 police station.

Police said the reason for the executive taking his own life was not immediately clear, but preliminary investigation suggested he may have been depressed.

Whig lived in Block-D of DLF Belvedere Park with his wife, two sons, a daughter and his father who suffered a heart attack after receiving the news of Whig’s death.
