The Delhi High Court on Monday directed the Delhi Police to involve its Anti-Trafficking Unit in investigating the case of a 15-year-old girl who had gone “missing” in April with her 25-year-old neighbour.

Her parents had approached the court with a habeas corpus plea, alleging that she had been kidnapped and the family of accused had threatened them.

The court of Justice S Ravindra Bhat and Justice Vipin Sanghi, directed Delhi Police counsel Salim Ahmed to inform the anti- trafficking cell that it was dismissing the lawyer’s argument that the case was “prima facie” that of an elopement. The court also asked police why the accused’s father had not been properly questioned, even though call records indicated that he has been regularly in touch with his son.
