Close on the heels of the killing of BJP leader Vijay Pandit in Dadri earlier this month, three men allegedly gunned down a property dealer close to the Badalpur police station near Dadri on Monday, police said.

“The property dealer, Kiranpal Bhati, was gunned down on the main road while returning from a market around 9 pm on Monday. The assailants, Manjit Singh, Qadir and Manoj were on a bike. Bhati was rushed to hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries,” a police officer said.

The accused are yet to be arrested. Police suspect the killing could be the result of personal enmity. According to police, in 1998, Manjit’s brother had been killed allegedly by two of Bhati’s brothers, who were subsequently convicted and jailed. Bhati was probably killed to settle scores, police said.
