Man fires at monkeys,misses,injures help

The owner of a water purifying unit in Noida shot his domestic help with a 12-bore gun around 12 noon on Sunday. Meena was rushed to Kailash Hospital,where doctors said her condition is stable.

The owner of a water purifying unit in Noida shot his domestic help with a 12-bore gun around 12 noon on Sunday. Meena was rushed to Kailash Hospital,where doctors said her condition is stable.

The police said Meena (28) was shot accidentally. She works for Vijay Garg and his family in Sector-15. The accused was firing in the air to scare off monkeys,the police said. “Garg was cleaning his 12-bore gun on the terrace and fired in the air to scare off some monkeys. Meena,who was also working on the terrace,stood up to leave and was shot in the chest,” Ashok Tripathi,SP (City) Noida,said.

The incident took place when all family members,including Garg’s sons Akshay and Vishal,were at home. Meena had gone to the terrace to dry the washing when she was shot at.

Circle Officer Rajiv Narayan Mishra said the police are trying to contact the victim’s family. “We are yet to meet the her husband. Meena is undergoing treatment and we will be able to register a complaint against the accused only after talking to her family.

A case of unintentional hurt will,however,be registered against the accused till then,” Mishra said.

Initially,Garg fled the house but later the police claimed it had detained the family and was interrogating them about the sequence of events.

“We are interrogating them about the incident,” Tripathi said.
