A huge fire broke out at a factory in Sector 5 of IMT Manesar on Sunday evening. No casualties were reported in the incident, police said.

The factory,Life Long, was used to recycle plastic syringes. Initially, six fire tenders were rushed to the spot, fire officials said. However, with the blaze spreading to other parts of the factory, six more fire tenders — a few from Rewari district — were pressed into service to douse the flames.

Fire officials said the exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. However, police said the factory had a lot of chemicals in it and given the heatwave conditions, the slightest of triggers could have started the fire.

“A police team was rushed to the spot. Fire tenders were called in from Gurgaon,Rewari and private companies. There were no casualties as those who were in the building cleared out as soon as the fire started,” said Om Prakash,SHO,Manesar police station.

Police said the incident could have been disastrous if it had happened on a working day. “There were only a few people in the factory as it was a Sunday and they rushed out in time,” the officer said.
