The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi,Najeeb Jung on Saturday submitted a factual report to President Pranab Mukherjee on the matter of government formation in Delhi.
The Lt-Governor sent the report after he met AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday morning. Jung had met the BJPs CM candidate Harsh Vardhan on Thursday. The BJP had informed him that it would be unable to form the government as it still fell short of the 36-seat mark.
A statement issued by L-Gs office said,The leader of the AAP,Arvind Kejriwal, met the Lt Governor today. Referring to the letter of support received from the Congress party, Kejriwal said he would be in a position to form a government only after ascertaining the views of the people of Delhi. The Lt Governor will be submitting a factual report to the President of India.
Sources in the L-Gs office said the Lt-Governor may suggest the imposition of Presidents rule in the capital within the next few days.
There is a complication with the tenure of the Assembly ending on December 17. Two options are primarily available. The Lt Governor can either recommend imposition of Presidents rule with immediate effect or the AAP may be given more time, a source in L-Gs office said.
