A Delhi lawyer has filed a complaint seeking criminal action against AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal for allegedly “abetting bribery” by encouraging Delhi voters to take money from political parties during campaigning.
Tis Hazari court lawyer Arun Kumar Verma has filed the complaint, seeking registration of an FIR against Kejriwal under Sections 107, 171 B and 171 E of the Indian Penal Code for abetment of bribery during elections.
“Accused has deliberately and intentionally abated Delhi voters to take bribe from the political parties… during his public rally on 18.1.2015 at Uttam Nagar. The accused had given the said statement with full knowledge and belief that his abetting statement would be published and broadcasted in various newspapers and television news channels,” says the complaint.
The complaint also mentions the notices issued to Kejriwal by the Election Commission asking him to refrain from making such comments.
