FLAGGING ISSUES in the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), AAP MLA and DDA member Somnath Bharti has alleged that Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung has “repeatedly refused to meet me to discuss the issues”, while the “DDA has been postponing its regular meetings to avoid the issues listed in the agenda”.

“ There are several issues pertaining to the DDA and other issues concerning the MCDs that need to be discussed with the L-G. There are important issues listed in the agenda of DDA that I have raised but the body is repeatedly postponing its meetings. There is no accountability. The L-G needs to intervene,” said Bharti. “There are cases of rampant encroachment by BJP leaders that the DDA has been ignoring. The MCD has been sitting on a street lighting project for which I approved funds from my MLA LAD. Who will hear these issues?” he said.
The L-G office, however, rubbished the allegations and said Jung has been meeting ministers and MLAs. An official from the L-G secretariat said, “It is possible that Bharti’s meeting could not materialise because the timing did not suit both parties.”
