Delhi Water Minister Kapil Mishra Wednesday urged Delhi Jal Board to provide drinking water bowls at all its facilities for parched birds and animals in the peak summer months.
Along with this “immediate fix”, Mishra also asked DJB to send mails showing photographic compliance.
“A photograph of the utensil and its location should be sent by email with the subject of the email being the name of the office with location.”
Mishra, in a letter to the DJB CEO Keshav Chandra, said that its properties need to make provisions of water for birds and animals during summer. This came a day after the DJB announced a summer action plan for the capital.
“The number of lakes and green spaces in the city has considerably reduced and with it the sources of drinking water for animals and birds (have) come down drastically. Severely parched birds and animals in the simmer are a heart-wrenching sight,” he wrote.
Mishra stated that “an immediate fix is required to ensure some drinking sources for these animals and birds.”
