The JNU administration on Thursday agreed to conduct the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU) elections this semester as a one-time arrangement. This was conveyed to the chairperson of the JNUSU Election Committee,Prabodhan Arvind Pol,by the administration.

“The Rector said they have received a positive response from the Supreme Court, and the JNUSU can go ahead with the election procedure,” said Prabodhan. With this, the JNUSU elections are likely to be conducted by February. An all-organisation meeting has been called on Friday,so the schedule for the JNUSU elections can be finalised without any further delay.

Elections will be conducted at the university after a gap of over four years, ever since the Supreme Court banned it for not conforming with the Lyngdoh Committee recommendations.
