Zuber’s relative had informed the police on Friday.

Zuber used to supply cellphones to the retailers.

“He had left home with Yasir, his friend and neighbour,to get mobile phones from Connaught Place (on Thursday). He had Rs 5.5 lakh to procure the cellphones. He was in touch with his family till 11.30 pm,after which his phone was switched off,” said D C Srivastava,Additional CP (Central).

The duo were tracked down with the help of technical surveillance and local intelligence. During questioning, they told police that Yasir had lost a lot of money to betting during the IPL series and was in debt.

“To repay his debts,Yasir hatched a conspiracy along with Faizan to kidnap Zuber and kill him,as he was aware that Zuber often carried huge amount of cash with him,” said Srivastava.
