An injured monkey, which found refuge at Rashtrapati Bhavan, was rescued by an NGO on Friday. According to Wildlife SOS — which provides an ambulance service to wild animals in distress across Delhi-NCR — the monkey was spotted in the meeting room by Presidential staff. A two-member rescue team was dispatched, which found the monkey sitting under a chair.

“Since the animal was already injured and in pain, the team took great care in handling the rescue while ensuring least amount of stress was caused during the process. On close examination, the macaque was found to be suffering from severe injury in the shoulder area, which had become infested with maggots,” the NGO said.
