A 38-year-old man attempted to slit his wife’s throat with a kitchen knife after which he tried to kill himself on Sunday evening. The incident was reported from a residential colony in Munirka, South Delhi, police said.

“Ram Kumar (38) had an argument with his wife Kripa (35) and lost his temper. He picked up a kitchen knife and tried to slit his wife’s throat. After that, he stabbed himself. The incident took place around 5 pm. A neighbour rushed the couple to AIIMS. The two were treated for their injuries and later declared out of danger,” a senior police officer said.

Residents in the area told police that Ram was short-tempered and often fought with his wife. Neighbours claimed they often heard the couple bickering over domestic and marital problems. Police said Ram works as a driver while Kripa is a cook. Both of them hail from Darjeeling and do not have children, police said.
