A 27-year-old private security guard posted at Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in outer Delhi’s Mangolpuri has been arrested for allegedly raping a minor girl inside the hospital premises on the pretext of providing her a job. “The accused was arrested on November 8 after the victim registered her complaint. He has been sent to judicial custody,” Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (outer district) Pankaj Singh told The Indian Express.

According to police, the accused has been identified as Virendra. He lives with his family in Aman Vihar and had got a job at the hospital around three months ago, added police. “In her complaint, the victim told police that she had met the accused a few months ago when she visited the hospital for treatment. She said they became good friends and he offered her a job. The girl alleged that he raped her several times inside a room near the emergency ward,” said a senior police officer.
She alleged that on November 8, the accused again called her to the hospital where he allegedly raped her again and tried to mislead her when she asked him about the job. She then approached police.
“On the basis of victim’s complaint, a case was registered under Section 376 (rape) and several sections of the Protection of Children against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at Mangolpuri police station. Further investigation in the matter is on,” said a police officer.
Sources said police are looking into the role of other hospital staff and scanning CCTV footage installed on the hospital premises.
