Gurgaon police Thursday impounded 350 auto-rickshaws for violating traffic rules, and 108 other vehicles that were parked in “no parking” areas.

According to police, auto drivers violate traffic rules by driving carelessly and negligently and end up causing major traffic snarls.

To curb such violations, police have started a special drive. Police said the impounded autos will be released only after the “real owners” of the vehicles go to the police with relevant papers.

Similarly, police said drivers of other vehicles park in “no parking areas”. This causes congestion and inconveniences the other commuters.

Traffic police have also started a drive against these violators. As part of the drive, cranes will be parked at different locations across the city to tow away vehicles that are parked in “no parking” zones, said an officer.
