The final figure for the MCD polls puts the percentage of votes cast at 55. The State Election Commission had on Sunday said the figure could be higher than 55 per cent.

The maximum number of votes were cast in East Delhi (57 per cent) followed by North (55 per cent) and South (53 per cent).

Bhaktawar Pur ward recorded a voter turnout of 69 per cent,while minimum polling took place in Greater Kailash-I at 37.30 per cent.

Rajiv Kakaria,who was part of ‘Delhi Come Out and Vote’ campaign aimed at urban voters,said: “While the voting percentage in our area (GK-I) might have been the lowest in Delhi,it has definitely improved from last time when it was around 29 per cent.

In South Delhi,the maximum votes were cast in Chhawla at 67 per cent,followed by Bhatti at 66 per cent. Sriniwaspuri in South recorded 37.97 per cent votes.

In East Delhi,the highest voting was recorded at Harsh Vihar at 66 per cent,followed by Sunder Nagri at 65 per cent. The areas where minimum voting took place are Ghondli at 39 per cent and Sonia Vihar at 43 per cent.

In North Delhi,the maximum voting was in Bhatawar Pur followed by Bhalswa-Jahangirpuri at 63 per cent. The minimum voting was in Shahbad Daulatpur at 44.94 per cent and East Patel Nagar at 45.26 per cent.

On Tuesday,counting of votes for 272 wards will take place in 33 centres across the Capital. All results are expected to come by 3 pm,a senior official of State Election Commission said.
