Delhi Police have arrested gangster Kuldeep Gadoli (43), elder brother of gangster Sandeep Gadoli — who was killed in a shootout in Mumbai earlier this year — for allegedly murdering Manish Kumar alias Pappu, the older brother of Gadoli’s rival, gangster Binder Gujjar.
Pappu was shot dead on October 17 at 11.45 pm in Gurgaon. He had come to collect cash from a wine shop he owned in the city when eight to 10 assailants opened fire on him, killing him on the spot.
His family had alleged he had been shot by slain gangster Sandeep Gadoli’s relatives to avenge his death. But Gadoli’s relatives claimed he was killed by Pappu’s younger brother and Gadoli’s rival, Binder Gujjar.
Among others, Gadoli’s two brothers, Braham Prakash and Kuldeep Gadoli, and his sister Sudesh had been named in the FIR filed at the Gurgaon City police station.
On Thursday, acting on a tip-off that Kuldeep would come near the cremation ground in Dwarka’s Sector 24 to meet his aides, Delhi Police laid a trap and apprehended him while he was getting out of his car.
An illegal automatic 9 mm Beretta pistol, loaded with three cartridges, was recovered from him and a case was registered under relevant sections of the Arms Act, added police.
According to police, during interrogation, Kuldeep is said to have admitted that he had taken over as leader of his gang in Gurgaon after his brother’s death. He said he had been looking for an opportunity to avenge Sandeep’s death. Police said he revealed they joined hands with the Kaushal gang to kill Pappu.
The Gadoli and Kaushal gangs are notorious in Gurgaon for running extortion rackets and are also alleged to be behind several murders in the district.
